The Last Rose of Summer Revisited

Rosa 'Abraham Darby' November 12 2017 |
I wrote about my last rose of summer here. Two days later
after I place the semi-closed rose in a little vase in the kitchen I noticed it
had opened and it still had that refreshing scent.
The bloom itself is half the size of the big summer ones
but its beauty is still savoured as rain pelts in our little Kitsilano garden.
We have installed a bird feeder and the first bird to
notice was a lovely stellar blue jay. But there is a little bird (I have no
idea what it is) who also indulges. As I write this the little bird is in my
Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Ayesha’ by my office window. I may now have new friend
as he seems to appear only when I am at my computer.
