The Crimson
King Maple (Acer platanoides 'Crimson
King') is a popular medium-sized deciduous shade tree known for its striking,
deep purple-maroon leaves that hold their rich color from spring through fall
Today I
visited my Welsh neighbours the Galsworthys. I picked up a couple of leaves I knew I was
going to scan. Ian’s wife Kathleen told me the tree was a King Crimson. I
looked the name up.
For me the
very beginning of a season reminds me of my Rosemary. We would have talked what
we needed to prepare the garden for fall/winter or what plants we might want to
buy for spring.
Jorge Luís
Borges said this of autumn:
Si pudiera volver a vivir comenzaría a andar descalzo
a principios de la primavera y seguiría así hasta concluir el otoño
If I were to
begin to live again I would go barefoot from the beginning of spring and would
go on until autumn finished.
As for me I
prepare for winter believing that BC Indigenous idea that if one survives
winter one lives for another year.
