The "Borda
Gardens" or Jardín Borda in Cuernavaca, Mexico, originally owned by silver
magnate Don José de la Borda in the 18th century, later became a retreat for Emperor
Maximilian & Carlota in the 19th. It is now a cultural centre, known for its romantic,
19th-century feel, fountains, and artificial lake.
artificial y museo.
La ignorancia es atrevida (ignorance is daring) my Abuelita used to tell
me. Until today I did not know that there
was more than one writer called Wolfe, one Thomas Wolfe and another called Tom Wolfe. It was the
first who wrote You Can’t Go Home Again which is the theme of this blog.
I have a short memory as
to when I went to the Borda Gardens for the first time, and with whom, in
Cuernavaca, in the State of Morelos in Mexico.
I remember as if it were a
dream in seeing a couple of swans in the lake. When I returned this 3 December the
swans were not there. This proves that Thomas Wolf in his posthumous novel
published in 1940 may have been right about not being able to go home again
With my Fuji X-E3 camera I
went crazy taking photographs of this lovely garden. While there were no swans
there was a lovely heron and some ducks. I was taken by my nephew Juan Antonio
Miranda. It was sunny and warm.
Mi sobrino Juan Antonio Miranda me llevó. Ambos la
pasamos bien en el sol y calor.
