Rebecca Anne Stewart - October 2010 |
In my Kitsilano garden I grow about 50 roses. I am frequently asked which one is my favourite. My answer is this one, “Today it is this one.Tomorrow it may be another.”
For quite a long time I have considered the portrait in this blog my fave ever.
A few weeks ago when I was inserting links to old blogs in Facebook I noticed this one in which I use a portrait of Rebecca to illustrate a fine Emily Dickinson poem. I was amazed and I suddenly changed my mind about what is my favourite portrait.
I have taken beautiful portraits of both Lauren and Rebecca. Now that they are over 20 they don’t consider this old man to be their grandfather. I am just a plain and boring old man.
At my age of 82 I have an almost certainty that they will not pose for me again. It is a shame.
On the other hand I can sift through their photographs and decide which is my favourite for that day.
