I cannot speak for other photographers but this one was never inclined to take self-portraits except sometimes on my birthday. When people want to take my picture I rarely object as I don’t have to do or suggest anything. I keep my mouth shut and I do as I am told. It is sort of a relief to let go.

In the last few years quite a few of my photographs include me in some corner. This is because I like to shoot some of my subjects in front of a mirror. The small mirror in our home’s guest bathroom has been a frequent one of late.

It all really began for me here. It was when I realized that my photograph is some ways mimicked  Velázquez’s Las Meninas, the beautiful painting that has its own room at the Prado Museum in Madrid.
