On Thursday, April 14, I read an obituary for American photographer Jerry Uelsmann. I was familiar with this pre-Photoshop wizard. It seems that his technique involved having at least 6 enlargers going in his darkroom. He would then move around from one to another until he had the results he wanted.
This set me to thinking. I no longer have a darkroom, and when I did, I only had one enlarger.
But with my scanner I could sandwich negs or slides and look for good fits.
And so it was that by Thursday night I was experimenting. I will place here some of them and of course nothing shows that should not show. That is a pity.
I am really excited as I have thousands of negatives and slides I can play around with. But my excitement is dampened by the fact that I know nobody who might be interested in the technique. Since most of my peers have gone digital, few of them shoot film or have a scanner.
That is a pity.
