Me gustan todas, me gustan todas de por igual
Pero esa rubia, esa rubia en especial
I like them all, I like them all, all the same
but that blonde, that blonde especially well.
My eldest daughter Alexandra who teaches in Lillooet, BC is visiting us. She is helping us organize our life and throw out stuff. I am 78 and Rosemary is 76. We are not going to live forever. We want to lighten the load of our two daughters dealing with us when we are gone.
My Alexandra has a fine tendency to tell me things that I am not aware of (which I should be aware of) and can be a tad brutal about it. I wonder if she might not have inherited some of this from yours truly?

She told me, “You have pictures of us and of your granddaughters all over the house but only two pictures of her (both with Alexandra, below) How do you think she feels about this?

As a red-blooded Argentine-Latino (then but certainly not now) I had a thing for blondes. While not a Mexican, in 1968 I was living in Mexico and like all Mexicans I had that attraction for American blondes. One day while leaving a language school where I taught English I spotted a blonde in a mini-skirt with devastatingly beautiful legs and long, straight hair. And all this before I saw her from the front.

To make a long story short, we got married. I did manage to take some portraits of her but as soon as Alexandra came along I snapped mother and child photos and I lost sight to the fact that I was married to a beautiful woman who resembled that idol of mine, Eva Marie Saint. There she was, right in front of me, and that is how it has been all these years. I have thousands of pictures of our daughters in trips we took to Europe and Hawaii.
In the next while I will go through all my negatives and slides and see what I can find.

And now, while Rosemary is not that blonde I first saw 52 years ago, she has this beauty that makes me wonder how I could have been so blind all these years.
