Both my Rosemary and I agreed in not liking red underwear for women. We both preferred white, but depending on the transparency of a dress, Rosemary had a few black bras.
I was a young man when I ditched tight underwear and opted
for boxer shorts. In high school I wore jockstraps when I was in the gym.
My grandmother liked to use a 19th century term for underwear – paños menores. That translated not too nicely to minor cloths. My mother often commented how Rosemary was always walking around the house in her paños menores. She ignored the fact that I did, too.
In my native Argentina the word bombacha means both a panty but also gaucho pants which are broad on the top and taper at the bottom.
Depending on the age of the person a bra in Spanish can be brassiere or corpiño.
And now to comment on the photographs that I am displaying here. They are a product of my latest craze which is the scanner negative sandwich (without mayonnaise). The method is explained in this blog that has further links.
I am now about to be 80, this old man is tired of seeing women wearing yoga pants. I long for skirts or dresses even if they are not short. My macho nephew in Buenos Aires would now be questioning my sexuality. His son, very right wing and very Roman Catholic, was angry and disturbed when as a joke I told his five daughters (15 to 26) that I was considering becoming a trans woman so that I could be an authentic crazy cat lady.
He would furthermore consider the photographs here as obscene.
I, of course think otherwise. My idea of what is erotic has changed since I was a young man. In my youth no clothes were erotic. Now more clothes are erotic. One of the reasons is that since my sex drive is unlike that of Charlie Chaplin or Anthony Quinn, who both engendered children in their 80s, my concept is above the belt and firmly (ha!) in my head. It is cerebral and elegant. I think that the pictures here of lovely Leslie Phillips are in good taste. But then she could look awfully good in paños menores. And best of all she liked them white.
