Today I had the luck to listen to a work-in- progress at the Roy Barnett Concert
Hall at the UBC School of Music. It was performed by UBC’s
brilliant pianist Corey Hamm. He was practising A. Carpentier’s Eroic Chase in E-flat major piano and harpsichord concerto for two
hands. The Cuban Magic Realism composer stipulates that the piece has to be 46
minutes long. By my stop-watch check Mr. Hamm was over by two minutes.
