I cannot speak for other photographers but this one was never inclined to take self-portraits except sometimes on my birthday. When people want to take my picture I rarely object as I don’t have to do or suggest anything. I keep my mouth shut and I do as I am told. It is sort of a relief to let go.
In the last few years quite a few of my photographs include me in some corner. This is because I like to shoot some of my subjects in front of a mirror. The small mirror in our home’s guest bathroom has been a frequent one of late.
It all really began for me here. It was when I realized that my photograph is some ways mimicked Velázquez’s Las Meninas, the beautiful painting that has its own room at the Prado Museum in Madrid.
Here are a few of my latest which includes the cast and playwright of Sister Judy at the Arts Club’s Revue Stage on, right now. There are also pictures of cellist Juliana Soltis who last week posed for me during two afternoons and one of another cellist Marina Hasselberg.
