Filling in the Blanks With Very Good Help

My first and still only web page came up in January 2006. It had and has an ancillary custom Blogger blog. I had no idea what a blog was and it took me a while to settle in. Since then I have written several “Why do I blog blogs?" Here they are.

Why do I blog? A sobering recapitulation.
Why do I blog? I still don't know.
At first I had the obsession that a daily blog had to be
exactly that. I had to write the blog on the very day and a few times I went past
midnight and felt terrible. I was being dsihonest. When Rosemary and I happened to travel I cheated a bit
by writing a few draft blogs ahead of time. In most of the places we traveled
to they had internet cafés or the hotels themselves had access to computers.
When Rosemary, our two granddaughters and I drove to south
Texas in our Malibu my friend Paul attempted to teach me how to take pictures with
my iPhone 3G and to somehow place them in my blogs via some method that I could
not handle. I was much too dumb to change my ways. I think I was able to do one
blog his way. I just looked for it and the picture is one big nothing.
On two week trips to Buenos Aires I finally came to the
conclusion that my best route was to write my blogs when I returned from the
trip. Once I had a digital camera I could download the pictures when I got home
(that’s about my speed!).
In some cases I have filled my blog to the day but I feel I
have to write something. What I do is post it in some day in the future
(Blogger allows me to do this.).
Now in November because of health, family problems and
circumstances beyond my control I realized I had holes in September and
October.
It would be easy to say to myself, “Forget it! Who cares?”
But I do not do that and I have been filling in those holes with pictures
illustrating Jorge Luís Borges and Julio Cortázar stories and Emily Dickinson
poems.
You might notice or not that I have found excellent
filler material in T the most sexy and beautifully shaped woman I ever
photographed in my very long photographic career.

The only real change in my blogging has been the fact that after each day's blog I put links in Facebook and Twitter. If the blog might be about an Early Music Vancouver concert I will then link in their Facebook, Twitter and web page. If the concert is in a Vancouver Civic Theatres the links will go there, too. And so on. But the biggest change has been incorporating Medium with blogs that I modify (not always) by making sure the places like Vancouver BC where I live are in the Medium blog. It is exciting to write in Medium.com because they use some of the latest (sometimes complicated for this guy) tricks of technology.
