A Siesta With A Cat
Tuesday, July 07, 2015
There were those very early years of our marriage. Rosemary
and I would visit my mother in Veracruz. At night we could smell the aroma of the tropics, the sea and the humidity with a touch
of port sewer and bunker oil. We loved to listen to sound. At sea level sound
carried not like in the 8000 ft of Mexico City. It was luxurious to sleep on
the sheets with no clothes. It was the only way to tolerate the stifling heat of
Veracruz.
Those days are definitely gone and will never be repeated
except in fond memories.
This photograph of a woman sleeping a siesta with her cat is
the new memory (still a reality) that Rosemary and I relish. We have two cats,
Casi-Casi and Plata they sleep at the foot of the bed. In these hot days,
Casi-Casi is smart and he sleeps on the cool wood floor. In the morning the
cats do their utmost to get us up so we can feed them.
