Since I began in January 2006 I have written 6566 blogs not counting this one. While I think I have a good memory it is impossible for me to remember all of them. On a random search today I found this image of Janice Carpenter in my blog search engine. I wrote about her here.
But when I saw this portrait I went into my files and found the 8x10 glossy. There is something about physically placing the photograph on my scanner and thinking about her as I did my quick fiddling with shadow detail with my 22 year old Photoshop 8.
Carpenter was a young woman and while she was on a wheelchair and legally blind I could see in her face that she had all the desires and needs of a woman her age. I believe that is what makes this one of the best portraits I have ever taken.
For many years I became obsessed in expressing my view on what was erotic with a photograph. I have hundreds of those attempts. This portrait is the most erotic.
Once I am gone since I will place this 8x10 in one of a series of black portfolios, her name as I had put on the photograph will be there and she will live on.
