In these wonderful opportunities given to me by the Arts
Umbrella Dance Company to take pictures at their Sunday Performance Series 2015
I am learning that at age 72 I still have some good photographs in my future. This
batch, all in colour came from the March 1 program held at Performance Works. Because the venue is all black walls and floor
with theatrical lighting the extreme contrast prevents me from getting the
lovely pastel tones I got a few weeks ago at the Q7 studio on 7th Avenue.
I opted to shoot the pictures in b+w. But as soon as I saw the start of the
Ballet Kelowna dancers n Shawn Hounsell’s Blue I knew I had to use colour. The
pictures here are reversed. They start with Lesley Telford’s Untitled (seen
here a few weeks ago) with the Arts Umbrella Graduate Level Dancers.
The results may just prove that sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks.
