Aprovechemos el otoño
Let’s take advantage of Fall
antes de que el invierno nos escombre
before Winter clears us away
entremos a codazos en la franja del sol
let’s elbow ourselves into that fringe of the sun
y admiremos a los pájaros que emigran.
and we admire the birds that emmigrate
ahora que calienta el corazón
now that it warms the heart
aunque sea de a ratos y de a poco
even if only for moments and little by little
pensemos y sintamos todavía
let’s think and feel still
con el viejo cariño que nos queda.
with that old affection
aprovechemos el otoño
let’s take advantage of the Fall
antes de que el futuro se congele
let’s take advantage before future freezes
y no haya sitio para la belleza
and there will not be any room for beauty
porque el futuro se nos vuelve escarcha.
because the futury will turn us into frost
My translation
Today with few roses to scan I looked at my hostas. Some still look pristine others are showing an awareness of the coming Fall. I think my scans show beauty. Not only trees with their falling leaves usher in Fall.
