Rosa 'Mary Magdalene' June 3 2018 |
Nothing beats reading the Sunday New York Times when it
usually arrives at around 8 in the evening on Saturday. But sometimes the
carrier decides to deliver it the next day. That happened today.
So it was our usual breakfast in bed and I was reading the
Book Review. I was attracted to reading a review, Rennaisance Woman – The Life
of Vittoria Colonna by Ramie Targoff.
The reason is that I have read a few books by the reviewer Sarah Dunant.
Within that review I read this:
Titian painted a
notably erotic Mary Magdalene for her.
Because in 2018 you can I looked up in Google (in my smart
phone in bed) Titian – Mary Magdalene
What I found was not entirely erotic. But below was a
secondary image.
That satisfied my curiousity. I dressed and went to our deck
garden and cut a bloom of an almost spent bloom from my English Rose, Rosa ‘Mary
Magadalene’.
Now for anybody who thinks our past was rosy what do you
think now?
The only rosy thing in my immediate past is that this bloom
now fading to almost white emerged pink (an un yet not too reformed Mary
Magdalene).
