Niño, Niña & Rosa 'Abraham Darby'

Rosa 'Abraham Darby', October 7 2018

Crossing the equator can bring unexpected melancholy. Consider that a week ago we were experiencing a Buenos Aires spring. There were flowers everywhere although the jacarandas were yet to show their blue flowers.

Now we are firmly in a dreary Vancouver rainy fall. But there are three bright spots.
Two of them are our brand new 6 year-old cats Niño and Niña who after three days of adopting them from the local SPCA have adapted to us. I cannot but look at their brilliant orange without smiling.

They are clean, well-mannered and best of all most loving.

The third bright spot is that dependable English Rose, Rosa ‘Abraham Darby’ perhaps saying goodbye until next year. But his (her?) rich scent and that colour, so resembling that of our cats, gives me hope for a spring and ignites in me a smile.
